Position Overview

The Railroad Tamper Operator's job involves efficiently and effectively operating a Jackson 6700 Production Tamper. Where required, the finished tamping product must meet specific design requirements and specifications for track elevation and profile. When needed the operator will be required to aid in performing maintenance and construction activities related to the project.

Qualifications

- 3-5 years experience operating a Jackson 6700 tamper. - Must be able to travel as projects require. - Ability to understand and follow verbal instruction - Ability to respond to visual and audible communications and warnings. - Ability to work in all weather conditions - Attention to detail, problem solving and decision making

Key Responsibilities

- Be present and participate in all safety meetings. - Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment. - Operate a tamping machine with precision to tamp railway tracks, maintaining optimal alignment and stability. - Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the tamping machine, identifying and addressing any issues promptly - Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, prioritizing the well-being of yourself and your coworkers - Recognize, avoid and report potential hazards. - Strong communication skills to effectively interact with co-workers and Supervisors. - Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up to date with industry’s best practices and technical advancements

Position Overview

A railroad laborer also known as a track laborer in the railway industry performs manual physical labor using hand tools and equipment to construct, alter, repair, maintain and demolish railroad tracks, associated structures and components. Working as part of a crew to install new tracks, maintain existing ones and ensure safe operations.

Qualifications

- Must be 18 years of age - Ability to understand and follow verbal instruction - Ability to respond to visual and audible communications and warnings. - Ability to work in all weather conditions - Must be willing to travel as projects require.

Key Responsibilities

- Be present and participate in all safety meetings. - Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment. - Perform construction or maintenance tasks associated with railroad tasks. - Carry and place track materials using hand tools such as: otie-tongs, rail tongs, lining bars, shovels, jacks, spike mauls, claw bars to name a few. - Work alongside heavy equipment by connecting, disconnecting and controlling material that is being moved. - Quickly learn and perform job duties. - Recognize, avoid and report potential hazards. - Strong communication skills to effectively interact with co-workers and Supervisors.

Position Overview

A Railroad Construction Supervisor in the railway industry is responsible for overseeing all aspects of railroad construction, maintenance and rehabilitation, while managing the daily operations of assigned projects. They coordinate crews, monitor progress of installation of tracks, bridges and signals as well as the maintenance of existing railway infrastructure. All this must be done while ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with regulations when managing schedules, resources and personnel.

Qualifications

- A minimum of 5 years construction leadership experience is required. - A valid driver’s license and good driving record. - Knowledge of track construction - Attention to detail and time management skills. - Ability to work in all weather conditions - Must be willing to travel as projects require

- Conduct daily safety meetings ensuring safety regulations followed. - Strong communication skills to effectively interact with co-workers. - Monitor project progress, coordinate employee daily work schedules. - Problem -Solving: Ability to identify and address issues effectively. - Ability to lead and motivate a team. - Ability to work in all weather conditions.
