Position Overview

The Railroad Tamper Operator's job involves efficiently and effectively operating a Jackson 6700 Production Tamper. Where required, the finished tamping product must meet specific design requirements and specifications for track elevation and profile. When needed the operator will be required to aid in performing maintenance and construction activities related to the project.

Qualifications

- 3-5 years experience operating a Jackson 6700 tamper. - Must be able to travel as projects require. - Ability to understand and follow verbal instruction - Ability to respond to visual and audible communications and warnings. - Ability to work in all weather conditions - Attention to detail, problem solving and decision making

Key Responsibilities

- Be present and participate in all safety meetings. - Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment. - Operate a tamping machine with precision to tamp railway tracks, maintaining optimal alignment and stability. - Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the tamping machine, identifying and addressing any issues promptly - Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, prioritizing the well-being of yourself and your coworkers - Recognize, avoid and report potential hazards. - Strong communication skills to effectively interact with co-workers and Supervisors. - Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up to date with industry’s best practices and technical advancements
